Origin
The Manx is an ancient breed that appeared naturally on the Isle of Man. The taillessness mutation is caused by a dominant gene. The Cymric is simply the long-haired version of the Manx and has been recognised as a distinct breed.

Character
The Cymric is an intelligent, playful and affectionate cat, very attached to its family. It adapts well to apartment life and gets on well with children and other animals. Some have a reputation for fetching objects like a dog.

Care
The semi-long coat requires regular brushing two to three times a week to prevent tangles and hairballs.

Body: robust, compact and rounded. Cobby type. Hindquarters higher than the shoulders.

Head: round and broad, full cheeks, short muzzle.

Eyes: large and round. Colour related to the coat.

Ears: medium-sized, wide at the base, slightly rounded.

Tail: absent (Rumpy), vestige (Rumpy-Riser), short (Stumpy) or long (Longy).

Coat: semi-long, double, with dense undercoat.

Colour: all colours and patterns accepted except colourpoint.
