Origin
The Exotic was developed in the USA in the 1960s from crossings between Persians and American Shorthairs. The goal was to obtain Persian traits with a shorter, easier-to-maintain coat. The Exotic is often called the "lazy man's Persian" due to its calm character and simplified grooming.

Character
Gentle, calm and affectionate. Less demanding than the Siamese, it enjoys cuddles and a quiet life. Well suited to apartment living.

Care
The dense short coat needs brushing two to three times a week. Regular eye-cleaning due to the flat face.

Body: cobby, compact and muscular, solid bone structure.
Head: round and broad, flat face (brachycephalic), short broad nose.
Eyes: large, round and well spaced. All colours in harmony with the coat.
Ears: small, rounded, well spaced and tilted forward.
Tail: short and thick.
Coat: short, dense, soft and standing away from the body.
Colour: all Persian colours and patterns.
