Origin
The Javanese arose from crossings between Orientals and Balinese. It is essentially a semi-longhaired Oriental or a Balinese in non-traditional colours, recognised under different names depending on the federation.

Character
Very vocal, affectionate, intelligent and active. It forms close bonds with its owners and demands much attention.

Care
Little or no undercoat; weekly brushing suffices.

Body: long, slender, elegant, muscular. Oriental type.
Head: long wedge, straight profile.
Eyes: almond-shaped, slightly oblique. Vivid blue.
Ears: large, wide at the base, continuing the head wedge.
Tail: long, thin, forming a plume.
Coat: semi-long, fine and silky, no undercoat.
Colour: all colourpoint colours except seal, blue, chocolate and lilac.
