Korat

Origin
The Korat is one of the oldest cat breeds in the world, originating from Thailand where it has been described for centuries in the "Tamra Maew" (Book of Cat Poems) from the 14th–15th centuries. Its name comes from the Korat province in Thailand. Considered a lucky charm, it was exported to the West in the 1950s and officially recognised in the 1960s.

Character
Intelligent, sensitive and very loyal. Calm but also playful. Can be shy with strangers but very affectionate with its family.

Body: medium, muscular and semi-cobby.
Head: heart-shaped seen from the front, broad forehead.
Eyes: large and round, luminous green in adults.
Ears: medium to large, wide at the base, slightly forward.
Tail: medium length, slightly thicker at the base.
Coat: short, silky and lustrous, no undercoat.
Colour: blue (blue-grey) only, with silver sheen.
