Origin
In 1982 a farm cat in The Dalles, Oregon produced a bald kitten that developed a silky curly coat. Owner Linda Koehl noticed curly kittens were frequent in subsequent litters. In 1992 she began working to have the breed recognised.

Character
Affectionate, active and curious. Very sociable, ideal for families with children.

Body: medium length, muscular, moderately foreign.
Head: modified wedge, slightly rounded.
Eyes: large, almond-shaped, slightly oblique. All colours.
Ears: medium to large, tufts and lynx tips desirable.
Tail: medium to long, full plume.
Coat: short or semi-long, curly, springy and resilient.
Colour: all colours and patterns.
