Origin
The Manx arose naturally on the Isle of Man. The tailless mutation is caused by a dominant gene. These cats were excellent mouse-hunters on ships and farms.

Character
Intelligent, playful and very affectionate. Often follows its owner like a dog. Gets along well with children and other animals.

Care
Brush once or twice a week.

Body: robust, compact and rounded. Cobby. Hindquarters higher than shoulders.
Head: round and broad, full cheeks, short muzzle.
Eyes: large and round. Colour related to coat.
Ears: medium, well spaced.
Tail: absent (Rumpy), vestige (Rumpy-Riser), short (Stumpy) or long (Longy).
Coat: double, dense and resilient. Short to semi-long.
Colour: all colours except colourpoint.
