Origin
The Colourpoint Persian (also called Himalayan in the USA) arose from crossings between Persians and Siamese in the 1930s–1950s. The goal was a Persian with the Siamese colourpoint pattern. Depending on the federation it is recognised either as a Persian sub-variety or as a separate breed.

Character
Gentle, calm and affectionate like the Persian, with a slight playful streak inherited from the Siamese.

Care
Identical to the Persian: daily brushing, regular cleaning of face and eyes.

Body: cobby, massive and muscular.
Head: round and broad, very flat face, short nose.
Eyes: large, round. Vivid blue obligatory.
Ears: small, rounded, well spaced.
Tail: short, thick and full.
Coat: long, dense and shiny.
Colour: pale body with darker points (mask, ears, legs, tail). All colourpoint colours accepted.
