Origin
The Siamese is one of the oldest and best-known cat breeds in the world. It originates from Thailand (formerly Siam) and has been described for centuries in the "Tamra Maew". In the 19th century Siamese cats were given as diplomatic gifts to the West. In 1884 the British Consul-General brought the first Siamese to England. The breed quickly became very popular and is the foundation of many modern breeds such as the Balinese, Javanese and Oriental.

Character
The Siamese is exceptionally social, vocal and intelligent. Very attached to its owner and always wants to be nearby. It expresses its opinions with its characteristic loud voice. Ideal for people who enjoy an active, communicative cat.

Care
The short coat is very easy to maintain. Weekly brushing with a soft brush suffices.

Body: long, slender and muscular. Oriental type.
Head: long wedge, straight profile, no stop.
Eyes: almond-shaped and slightly oblique. Vivid blue obligatory.
Ears: large, wide at the base, continuing the head wedge.
Tail: long and thin, tapering.
Coat: short, fine and lustrous, lying close to the body.
Colour: colourpoint — pale body with dark points (mask, ears, legs, tail). Seal, blue, chocolate and lilac are classic; also red, cream and tabby-point.
