Origin
The Snowshoe is an American breed that appeared in the 1960s in Philadelphia, developed by breeder Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty. She crossed Siamese with bicolour American Shorthairs to obtain a Siamese-type cat with white feet and distinct markings. The name refers to the white "snowshoes" on the cat's paws.

Character
Friendly, active and intelligent. Less noisy than the Siamese but loves to communicate. Very sociable and suitable for families with children.

Body: medium, muscular, semi-foreign type.
Head: broad wedge, high cheekbones.
Eyes: large, oval to almond-shaped. Blue obligatory.
Ears: medium to large, wide at the base.
Tail: medium to long, slightly tapered.
Coat: short to semi-long, soft and lustrous.
Colour: colourpoint with white feet (mitted) and possibly white facial markings. Seal and blue colourpoint are classic.
