HELP! My cat will not eat
Fussy... That is a typical description of cats. They know exactly what they want and don't want. And that also applies to food. But there are a few things you as an owner can take into account. This way you ensure that your cat eats more easily.
Provide good nutrition
A cat has a nose for quality and therefore also for good food. She can smell so well that she even assesses the quality of the food this way. Therefore, make sure you have high-quality food that is easily digestible. Think of a healthy, tailored diet.
Provide enough fresh drinking water every day
Fresh drinking water is a natural part of your cat's diet. Cats are also fussy drinkers. They have a sort of "checklist":
- Is the water in a suitable place? (not in a place where you often walk by, for example)
- Does the water smell fresh?
If yes, they will drink.
Did you know that cats prefer to drink from a dripping tap, watering can or large pond? This is not an option for every cat owner.
Contact your vet
Contact your vet if your cat no longer wants to eat. They know your cat's situation well and can give advice.
