A clean living environment for the cat

A cat is a very clean animal. She spends many hours a day on her hygiene. That is why she also demands that her living environment is clean.

With a few simple tasks, you can quickly ensure a clean living environment:

• Teach your cat to use the litter box for her needs.
• Clean the litter box regularly and scoop out the waste daily.
• Remove cat hair from her living environment daily, regularly shake out her cushions and baskets.
• Make sure the basket or cushion is made of material that is easy to clean.
• Clean the food and water bowls daily.
• Keep her coat clean, brush her regularly and check carefully for fleas.
• Ensure fresh air; open the window (with a fly screen for safety).
• Deworm your cat regularly.

Accidents happen, even with cats. Clean immediately if your cat has urinated outside the litter box. Otherwise the smell lingers and she will regard that spot as her regular toilet.

What do scents mean to your cat?

Your cat reacts very strongly to scents. Varying smells keep the environment interesting for her and considerably reduce the chance of boredom or unwanted behaviour. Cats love fragrant catnip or valerian, for example. Surprise your cat occasionally by placing one of these herbs nearby or putting it in a toy.

Be cautious with cleaning products. Lemon-fresh scents are not appreciated by cats. Choose neutral-smelling cleaning products instead.
